Sleepy Eye Medical Center Expansion and Renovation The Sleepy Eye Medical Center recently completed an ambitious and long awaited expansion project.   A new clinic, opened in August 2004, is attached to the hospital. It provides offices for five doctors with 15 examination rooms.  An improved common entrance area, protected from weather and handicapped accessible, serves both the hospital and the clinic. A new lab has more space for diagnostic equipment for present and future needs. The health information management department has moved into the new addition and is designed to provide improved patient privacy, enhanced security of information and more space for technology.  In the hospital a new nurses’ station, nursery, obstetric suite, ICU, relocated emergency room and a new radiology wing are complete. The Sleepy Eye Medical Center will continue to obtain new equipment throughout the facility including diagnostic and operating room equipment.  We will also continue to renovate our staff as rapid changes in both medical treatments and technology require constant training and upgrading of skills for our physicians, nurses and other professional and technical personnel.  How has the Sleepy Eye Medical Center accomplished these goals?  The city residents overwhelmingly approved a referendum that allowed the City of Sleepy Eye to guarantee a $4.5 million USDA rural development loan for the medical center project.  A Capital Campaign conducted in the community raised more than $550,000.  These funds combined with the strong financial position of the medical center make this community improvement project a reality for the people of Sleepy Eye and the surrounding area.

Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation The Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation is a 501-C-3 organization that can accept tax-deductible donations for the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.  The foundation’s first major project was the Capital Campaign which raised more than $550,000 in community contributions for the medical center building and renovation project—approximately 10% of the project cost! Donations are encouraged and most appreciated. The financial support of our generous donors is very important in helping us provide the health care excellence which the community expects and deserves.  Our current annual fundraising campaign – Caring for Our Community – asks for support for an expanded Rehab Department that will be built in the lower level of the clinic addition.  Our Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Cardiac Rehab services will be located in this area which will have space for some new equipment and will be more easily accessed by our patients. Gifts of $1,000 or more - these can be gift totals that accumulate over time - are recognized on our Donor Honor Wall located in the main corridor leading from the entrance lobby to the hospital.
